About Breguet:
A.L. Breguet opened the doors of his now legendary watchmaking business in 1775 on the Quai de l'Horloge, Paris, and soon became an official supplier to the French Royal family. Many of the most important advancements in watchmaking originated from the house of Breguet. Breguet invented the first self-winding watch, first repeater, and the first tourbillon. Breguet utilized moon phase perpetual calendars, and with the battlefield ingenuity of Napoleon, invented the hinged 'half-hunter'.
The company was resurrected in the 1980s by the owners of the Parisian Jewelers Chaumet. Breguet later exchanged hands several times and was eventually purchased by the Swatch Group. Today, Breguet stands as one of the pillars of both style and innovative watchmaking.
Avant-garde styling and horological complications, inspired by the legendary ‘Souscription' watches of A.L. Breguet, make Breguet’s ‘Tradition’ both traditional and futuristic in styling. Similar to the ‘steam punk’ genre, their flawless movements and complications are complimented by partially-open dials.
Exemplifying Breguet’s ideals of precision, clarity and elegance, ‘Classique’ features clean, classic dials, making ‘Classique’ appropriate for those who love classic simplicity. Available in extra-slim models, manual, and automatic movements, ‘Classique’ is a versatile watch. An alternative to a round or rectangle case, ‘Heritage’ is tonneau-shaped; its delicately engine-turned dial accompanies the styles for both sexes.
‘Montres Breguet’ intricately constructs highly admired horological complications like the ‘Minute Repeater’ and the Breguet patented ‘Perpetual Calendar’. ‘Classique Grand Complications’ include the ‘Tourbillon Perpetual Calendar’, ‘Grande Complication Pocket-Watch’ and the ‘Regulator Tourbillon’.
'Marine’ is a modern, sturdy and watertight leisure watch with reinforced case and protected crown. A.L. Breguet made chronometers for the French Navy, so Breguet’s stylish ‘Marine’ is definitely a sea-worthy choice.
Designed in 1950s for the French naval air arm; Breguet’s ‘Type XX’ is a technical sports chronograph, available in two models, the ‘Aéronavale’ and ‘Transatlantique’ with date indication. Breguet’s Type XXI design also features a fly-back minute totaliser and a 24-hour time display. ‘Transatlantique’ is also available for the female sports enthusiast.
The ‘Reine de Naples’ watch was the first timepiece to be designed specifically for a queen. Two centuries later, the opulent ‘Queen of Naples’ oval-dialed collection, some decked in diamonds, or even held by an Akoya Pearl bracelet, remains an ever popular intricate, feminine masterpiece.
