About Breguet

The Breguet Watch Company was founded in 1775 by Abraham-Louis Breguet in Paris, France, and quickly gained the grace of kings, queens and country leaders. The Breguet watch company continues to demonstrate its skills in fine and complicated watch making within the watch world. Breguet is regarded as the innovator of invention of new technologies and manufacturing techniques. In 1801 Breguet Watches patents the "Tourbillon" regulator. The Tourbillion movement was devised by the company founder Abraham-Louis Breguet commencing a cultural heritage that continues today. The Tourbillon compensates for differences in rate caused by a watch adopting different positions. The principle is to mount the balance and escapement in a rotating cage. The balance and escapement rotate around their common axis covering all positions to average out the errors.

In 1815, the Breguet Watch Company makes their final adjustments to the marine chronometer, paving the way for the creation of their famous Marine Chronograph and the ladies Marine Chronograph watch collections.

Each Breguet watch has manually engine-turned "guilloche" dials which feature the signature hollow eccentric moon hands and distinctive numerals, combining function with elegance and bearing a secret Breguet signature. Another distinction is the coined edges on the case edge, otherwise known as the "case-band fluting" that adorns each Breguet watch.

Current collections now include the Classique dress style watches: The La Tradition, Classique Automatic, Classique Manual wind, the famous le Reveil du Tsar Alarm watch, and the elegant Retrograde Seconds and various Calendar watches with Moonphase complications.

The Grand Complications series include Tourbillions, Minute Repeaters and Equation of Time complications, often combined with secondary complications such as Perpetual Calendars and Regulateurs. Of distinction is the Tourbillon Messidor, a completely skeletonized watch.

For a bolder and sporty look Breguet offers the updated Marine Collection which includes an automatic watch with a large date, chronographs, a Tourbillion and jeweled watches for ladies.

The Type XX and Type XXI (Type 20 and Type 21) watches are the epitome of a casual style with carefully chosen color collections and beautifully crafted case designs; a truly perfect watch to wear on a day to day basis.

Last, but not least, is a watch from Breguet just for women: the Reine de Naples collection. This timepiece was inspired by an early bracelet watch A. L. Breguet created for Bonaparte's sister Caroline, the Queen of Naples, thus the name of this elegant series. The Queen of Naples watch is available with various amounts of jewels, contains an automatic movement and is available with a Power Reserve and Moonphase complications.
